Following a brain injury people often lose confidence in themselves and their abilities and this can cause them to become isolated and withdrawn, seeing less and less people and attempting fewer and fewer activities. During the confidence module we discuss how to grow in confidence instead of shrink – regular small challenges to slowly increase comfort zones and being gentle with yourself.

At Headway we talk a lot about how acceptance of a brain injury is crucial in moving forwards. This is particularly true to increase a person’s confidence. If you are fighting, condemning, judging and battling against your current experience, then how can you feel at peace and confident about where and who you are?

As a group we discuss areas of personal challenge and difficulty with regards to confidence and encourage members to step outside of their comfort zones in a safe and supportive environment.
